*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~ ~ *I Was a Fool for April* ~ ~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~ Chapter Four *~*~*~* I slammed the phone onto the cradle, screaming to the emptiness of my apartment. "Why won't she answer the phone!" I yelled, raking my hands through my hair. I've tried at least fifteen times in the last hour! Where could she be? "Oh yea.." I grunted, slamming my head on the desk. "She's on vacation." Well, maybe one of her friends knows where she went. So with that thought I got up and grabbed a light jacket before heading out the door. 24 minutes later I was at the top of the temple Rei's grandfather owned, panting for breath. "Wow, that's a lot of steps." I said to myself. "Yes, and it's amazing Serena can run up them in like, five seconds." I looked up to find Rei standing there in a red and white priestess dress, a broom in her hands. "Rei...where, where did Serena go?" I asked. "Why would you want to know?" She raised an eyebrow, switching the broom to her other hand. "Because." I sighed, standing up straight. "I love her." She beamed a smile at me, and hit me with the broom. "About time you figured that out." She sighed. "Serena was about to go insane." "How's that?" I asked. "She's had a major and unbelievable crush on you since she threw that test paper at you." She said. "Wow.." I sighed, running my hand through my hair. "I messed up huh?" "Yup." She nodded. "So are you going to tell me where she is so I can go and find her?" I asked impatiently, crossing my arms. "She's at the Hot Springs with her family." Rei answered. I smiled and gave her a quick hug before sprinting back down the stairs and into my car. "Thank you Rei!" I yelled and sped away. It took me the whole entire day to get there, and by the time I pulled up to the Hot Springs Hotel, a big full moon hung in the sky. Quickly I got out of the car and ran to the front desk. "Can you tell me which room the Tsukino's are in please?" I asked and the desk clerk started typing away at his computer. "Yes, they are in room 211, up the elevator one floor and to your left." He replied. "Thank you so much." I nodded and raced to the elevator. "209, 210, aha, 211." I said to myself and smoothed my hair back before knocking on the door. I heard soft footsteps inside before Mrs. Tsukino opened to door. She looked at me surprised and then back into the room. "Darien, what are you doing here?" She asked and shut the door behind her. "If Ken knew you were here..." "Yes, I know." I nodded. "Is Serena here?" She smiled knowingly, crossing her arms. Suddenly the door opened and Mr. Tsukino popped his head out. He took one look at me and his face turned redder than a tomato. "You.." He pointed a shaking finger at me, advancing. Mrs. Tsukino put a hand on his chest and he stopped to look down at her. "Yes I know, me." I sighed. "I know what I did wrong Mr. Tsukino, and I'm here to fix it." "Yes, do you think he'd come all this way just to make fun of her or something? Ken, the boy's in love with Serena." She pointed out and I blushed slightly under his glare. Suddenly a smile broke through and he sighed. "Alright, alright." He waved his hands in defeat and retreated back into the room. "Serena's not here, she went down to the lake. You'll probably find her by the statue." Mrs. Tsukino said and I nodded. "Thank you." I said and went back to the elevator. By the time I got back outside it had started to rain, a very hard rain. Lightening streaked across the sky every once in awhile, followed by a low rumble. I better find her quick, I thought and raced down the path. "Serena!" I yelled, running down the path blindly. I reached the lake and searched for the statue. Lightening lit up the sky and for a second I saw the large statue. It was of a man and a woman, obviously a couple, holding hands and looking out across the lake. I walked up to it slowly and suddenly found what I was looking for. Serena was huddled in between the two statues, her legs hugged to her chest and her head resting on them. Her hair was almost brown because it was absolutely soaked, and had fallen from its meatballs. She looked like a little drowned rat just sitting there. "Serena?" I called out quietly, and she lifted her head, opening her beautiful eyes. First they clouded over with confusion and surprise, then sadness. "What are you doing here Darien?" She asked quietly, looking away. "I-I came here for you Serena." I answered, and she looked back at me quickly. "Why?" She said, releasing her legs. "Because..Because the whole time I was trying to make Andrew look a fool, I was being one myself. I couldn't see anything else besides Andrew's demise. And I passed you right by, how very foolish of me. I'm so sorry Serena, for being such an idiot. I should've seen what I had." "Darien I-" She stopped and stood up, looking even smaller all soaked. I reached out slowly and ran my hand down her cheek, and even in these conditions she radiated that same warmth. "What are you saying?" Well, here goes nothing. I sighed, taking in a big breath. "That I want us to be together, no pretending anymore." "But, what about all the reasons you gave me for us not being able to go out? College, and how we can't stand each other." She said. "The only thing I can't stand is being away from you." I said, smoothing her hair behind her ear. "I want to make you happy, all I want is a chance." Rain droplets slowly fell off her bangs and into her bright eyes, then onto her soft lips. My hand moved to her lips, and I ran my finger over them slowly. I bent down and met her lips, savoring her sweet kiss. She wrapped her arms around my neck, entangling her fingers in my hair, while I brought her closer by wrapping my arms around her waist. She pulled back, a small smile beaming across her lips. "And all I want is you." She said and I smiled. "I really am April's Fool." I shook my head. She smiled up at me, as the rain kept coming in a slight drizzle. "No Darien," She shook her head. "*We* were April's Fools, two fools falling for love." "And what a wonderful way to fall." I said, bringing her back into the kiss. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* The End, or what it just the beginning? *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Thanks for reading! @-> Avanla Mireille
