Takeuchi Naoko was born on Marth 15, 1976. She grew up in Kofu City, Yamanashi prefecture with her mother (Ikuko), father (Kenji), and younger brother (Shingo). She graduated from Kyoritsu Yakka University and is actually a licensed pharmacist. Her blood type is A. While attending the university, Takeuchi made her debut as a comic artist, or manga-ka. Her debut manga was "Love Call," which received the Nakayoshi New Manga-ka Award. It was then published in the Nakayoshi Deluxe September 1986 issue. After graduating from the university she took a job as a pharmacist at Keio Hospital, even though she was already an awarding winning artist. (She had worked hard for her degree and decided to at least try being a pharmacist. Can't blame her. So would I! ^^;) Though she worked full time, she continued to draw manga. Then on July 18, 1991, "Code Name wa Sailor V" was published in the summer issue of Run Run. The success from Sailor V lead to "Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon." The manga debuted in February 1992 while the anime debuted a month later. The rest is history. :) On January 6, 1999 (Hotaru's birthday!), Takeuchi married Togashi Yoshihiro, a manga artist and creator of "Yu-Yu Hakusho." Many manga artists attended the wedding, along with seiyuu Mitsuishi Kotono, Hisakawa Aya, Tomizawa Michie, Shinohara Emi and Fukami, the seiyuu of Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako! (They sang "Moonlight Densetsu" at the wedding! That is just too cool!) After the wedding the newlyweds honeymooned in Spain and Turkey. And on a final note, Takeuchi gave birth to a baby boy. (The baby's name, from what I make of it, has not been released.) So she's now a mother! Let's wish the new family much happiness! :)
